GHC secures The first container is scheduled to arrive in late April/ early May with subsequent containers arriving every few weeks thereafter. Global Health Cares (GHC) is a grass-roots organization that has helped Nicaragua and her people for many years, all in the name of good medical care and an overall improvement in Nicaragua ’s quality of life. Its board, is comprised of Dr. Joseph J. Jordan, Dr. Chris Fields and Mark Milot all from the United States, as well as Chris Berry (Pelican Eyes…Piedras y Olas Hotel & Resort) and Leslie Caputo, GHC’s Field Director in San Juan del Sur. Rotary International is picking up the $150,000 cost of transportation for these containers. Macy Lawrence, a Rotarian from Woodstock Vermont was the driving force for the funding from Rotary International with Sylvio Reyes and Ebanor Faenz of the Granada Rotary acting as Nicaragua ’s host Rotary club. A meeting was held in January with Eduardo Holmann, mayor of San Juan del Sur and 3 members of GHC, Drs, Fields and Jordan and Leslie Caputo. When Mayor Holmann realized the scope of this project, he was, as he put it, “Simply shocked”. He said “No one has ever done this much for Nicaragua before.”
