Recommendations of the Public Health Ministry

In order to provide you with a quality and efficient service, The San Juan del Sur Health Centre offers the following recommendations:

If you are sick and need medical attention, you should take the following steps:

a) Arrive early at the health centre with your medical file number. If you have never been to the health centre, or do not have a number, you need to open a medical file in the stats department. The medical personnel cannot attend you without a medical file number, so go there first.

b) Please be patient while in the waiting room. Remember, every patient deserves to be listened to and attended to equally.

c) The first thing the nursing staff will do is take your blood pressure, temperature, respiratory and cardiac rate. This is to help prioritise the patients and because it is important information for the doctor.

d) The medical prescriptions the doctor and/or the health personnel gives you, must be presented at the health centre drugstore. Remember that the medicines are free.

e) If they indicate that you need laboratory work, ask for information about the day you need to go the laboratory to do your analyses.

f) If you or a relative has an immediate health concern or a health emergency, come immediately to the health unit which offers services 24 hours a day, 7 days of the week.

The Health Centre of San Juan del Sur is located opposite to the first church of the Nazarene - Central Zone - and the telephone is: 568 2320 The typical hours of operation for general consultation are:
8.00am to 12.00m and of 1.00pm to 5.00pm.

There is a 24 hour program operated by Lic. Luisa Zamora, for all persons, natives and foreigners who have hypertension (high blood pressure) diabetes, epilepsy, cardiac problems etc.
