Clean up success

The Alcaldia of San Juan donated two of the regular white garbage trucks (one borrowed from Rivas) along with the crews. By about 2 pm the volunteers had filled over 900 black garbage bags and the trucks had made 8 trips to the dump (that’s nearly 100 cubic meters!) Jon Berger, from Nicaragua-Realty S.A., the organizer of the event, was thrilled with the success of the operation and said “I think we have created a model that other groups can use to clean up their districts”.

After the event, it was time for food, drink and music followed by the raffle. Prizes included 3 bicycles, a surf board, numerous ball caps and T shirts from Bancentro as well as prizes and gift certificates from some of the sponsors.
