This non-profit summer camp group (now in its 14th year) goes on the road every year with some of its star performers from the Children’s Theater Program and San Juan Del Sur was the choice for this year’s trip.

About 15 visiting students aged between 12 and 16 collaborated with similar group from San Juan Del Sur to come up with a very well performed production. Over 200 people packed into the El Faro Youth Center for the first of two performances. The bi lingual show enabled everyone in the audience to follow and understand.

Even the really little guys watching were entertained by the colourful costumes, props and the music which included just about anything that could make some sort of musical sound.

Pelican Eyes…Piedras Y Olas and the Fundación A. Jean Brugger were the main sponsors of the event which was also made possible with the help of many other locals.

And just how did they get their name, Mud Butts? On a hiking trip many years ago a group of the kids were playing in a waterfall getting covered in mud from sliding down the rocks into the water. When asked who they were they spontaneously responded “We are the Mudd Butts” and the name stuck.
