MUSIC FEST 2008

Will be held over two days, starting on the evening of Friday the 18 of April with an inaugural party that will include exhibitions of Freestyle Soccer, Graffiti, and Break Dance synchronized by three international DJs and a few national DJs in the San Juan del Sur Sports Park.

Saturday 19 of April between 11 am and
4 pm will be a Jazz Concert in the Municipal Park, where the 2nd Annual Art in the Park activities will be taking place. Art in the Park is organized by the Stones & Waves Vet Clinic of Pelican Eyes…Piedras y Olas Hotel & Resort and Fundación A. Jean Brugger. This event is an exhibition of National artists from different artistic areas such as painting, crafts, sculpture, etc. and a variety of kids’ activities.

At 4p.m, the Music Fest resumes on two stages - one on the newly renovated boardwalk and the other in the Sport Park. Bands and Dance Groups from a wide range of genres will present throughout the afternoon and on until midnight.

April 19th of Music Fest 2008 San Juan del Sur will be free and open to the public. All proceeds will come from t-shirt sales and concessions, as well as donations from sponsors.

Music Fest 2008 San Juan del Sur is being designed to provide everything music and arts festival should, including:

• Tents for the participants,
• spectators, and food vendors
• Two stages for musical and dance presentations
• Sale of beer and/or liquor
• Exhibitions of art and culture
• Public Services such as public bathrooms, trash and recycling services, and security.

CALENDAR OF ACTIVITIES

Friday, 18 of April:
4:00pm – 7:00pm: Graffiti exhibition by Chuck and the FSC Crew, music by DJ Potoy
7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.: Exhibition of world renowned Soccer Freestyle athlete, sponsored by Red Bull.
8:30 p.m. - 9:30 p.m.: Break-dance (Leon, Managua, and Matagalpa) and Graffiti exhibitions, with music by DJ Mafioso (Atlanta) and DJ Johnny G (Canada)
9:30 p.m. - 1:30 a.m.: Inaugural Party of Music Fest 2008 San Juan del Sur with DJ Johnny G, DJ Dave B, and DJ Mafioso y El Sonido Urbano Latino.

Saturday, 19 of April:
11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.: The second annual “Art in the Park” - an event that promotes Nicaraguan art and culture coordinated by the Stones & Waves Vet Clinic of Pelican Eyes…Piedras y Olas Hotel & Resort and Fundación A. Jean Brugger. Art in the Park is sponsored by DHL and Delta Airlines, held in the Municipal Park, and provides kiosks for local and national artists, as well as food vendors and community organizations. There will also be plenty of arts and crafts activities for children, a cook out and a Jazz Concert.
4:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.: Opening Ceremony, Music Fest 2008 San Juan del Sur on the Boardwalk by BDF.

MAIN GOALS OF THE FESTIVAL

The Main objectives of the Festival are to promote Nicaraguan Culture and music, and to raise funds to support cultural and social projects in the community of San Juan del Sur. The primary project is a municipal murals initiative that will support public art throughout San Juan del Sur. If there additional funds are made available, they will go towards art workshops and teachers in San Juan del Sur.

To date, local businesses have pledged 92 plates of food and room for 31 performers. Hotels and hospedajes like 28, Estrella, Colonial, Ana Mar, Buen Gusto, Dulca Vita, Casa Blanca, La Posada Azul and restaurants like Rocamar, Lago Azul, Josseline, Ines, and El Timón deserve recognition for their early support of Music Fest 2008 San Juan del Sur.
