Sandinista National Liberation Front (FSLN) and the Nicaraguan Liberal Alliance (Alianza Liberal Nicaragüense – ALN). Both parties are in the process of selecting candidates.

In the last election (2004), almost 58% of registered voters in the Municipality of Rivas cast a ballot. In the Municipality of San Juan del Sur, the FSLN received 51.61% of the total votes.

This year, as San Juan’s Independent Community Newspaper, Del Sur is offering a forum whereby Sanjuanenos can ask questions of candidates (parties) relating to election issues.
