Its just one of the community services of the Fundacion A. Jean Brugger. Del Sur Newsletter was invited to join in the fun at the November event, held at Restaurant La Cascada.

At about 9am about a 100 “over 60 years young” attendees from in and around San Juan del Sur began to arrive. The first activity was Bingo, played using various coloured and assorted shapes, easier than using numbers. Renda Hewitt (Hotel Park Avenue Villas) wandered through the tables like Vanna White holding up the different pieces for all to see.

Following the Bingo was a dancing competition with prizes for the winners. There were quite a few Fred Astaires and an equal amount of Ginger Rogers.

The highlight of the activities was “musical chairs” which despite this being a seniors event, was every bit the full contact sport it usually is. The girls seemed to work as a team, eliminating the boys very quickly and then each other, until they were down to the final pair.

After all the activities it was time for lunch and refreshments. Numerous students of the foundation volunteer at these luncheons as part of their “giving something back” program. They helped seat the guests, organize the activities, make sure everyone is having fun and also serve the lunch. All of them had a big smile and seemed to be having as much fun as the seniors themselves.
