School Volleyball and Indoor Soccer Championship

At the end of August, the School Volleyball and Indoor Soccer Championship took place here in SJdS for male and female youths. Three teams of boys and three teams of girls took part in the volleyball. In Soccer, there were 4 teams of each.

Schools from San Juan del Sur, Rivas, Isla de Ometepe, Tola, Belen and Potosi all took place in the games.

The games were held at the Civic Centre and included an inauguration of the teams and the Championship itself.

This sporting activity was coordinated and directed by the Ministry of Education and the Institute Nicaraguan of Sport, endorsed by the Commission Municipal of Sport (COMUDEP) of San Juan del Sur,

Supporting the event was The Association of Women Bay Gaspar Garcia, directed by Doña Lilliam Reyes and Restaurant El Timon.

The results were as follows:

Male Volleyball: First place - National Institute Emmanuel Mongalo y Rubio, coached by Professor Frank Ruiz

Female Volleyball: First place - Stella Maris School, coached by Andrés Luna.

The most valuable player award went to Denisse Muñiz Ruiz.

Male Soccer:
First place - Institute of Belen

Female Soccer:
First place - Institute San Juan de Tola.

In the history of the event, San Juan del Sur has been the volleyball champions 18 times and at a National level have been runner-up and also third place on three occasions.
