Hipacas Parade and Food Festival

Sunday 15th of July, after the show and judging at the rodeo grounds, the Hipicas Parade came into San Juan Del Sur. The horses and riders put on quite the show as they danced and pranced to the beat of mobile disco that was travelling with them. The word Hipica literally means "equestrian" but in Nicaragua it is associated more with the “dancing horses” rather than more formal equestrian events.

The same day was the Banco ProCredito sponsored “Feria Gastronomica de Mar” or Seafood Fair in front of Hotel Estrella.Numerous local restaurants and food vendors set up tents and served their individual specialities (including some non-seafood items). The festival coincided with the Virgen Del Carmen - Patrona De Los Pescadores (The Virgin Carmen, the Patron Saint of Fishermen) celebrations and parades around town. Later in the evening, the music and customary fireworks let people know the party was still on.
